✦ Synopsis

The effect of additions of powdered limestone and quartz to HAC* pastes on sulfate resistance and rate of conversion in water has been studied. It is stated that the pastes with limestone addition are more resistant to sulfates and their degree of conversion is lowest in both environments, It is caused first of all by the formation of a stable calcium carboaluminate hydrate phase, C3A.C~.HI~'. These results have been confirmed by testing in a similar way of concretes with porous and dense limestone and granite as coarse aggregates.
