A new design of a reduced-size triangular microstrip antenna fed using an inset microstrip line is presented. The antenna size reduction is achie¨ed by loading a chip resistor at the triangle tip of the patch. With an increasing resistance of the loaded chip resistor, the antenna bandwidth is signif

β¦ Synopsis
A noΒ¨el design of a slotted triangular microstrip antenna for dual-frequency operation is proposed and experimentally studied. By embedding an inΒ¨erted V-shaped slot close to the Β¨ertex of a triangular microstrip patch, dual-frequency operation of the microstrip antenna can be achieΒ¨ed using an inset microstrip-line feed. The two operating frequencies haΒ¨e parallel polarization planes and broadside radiation characteristics. Also, the frequency ratio, in the range 1.37α1.59, of the two frequencies can be controlled by the length of the embedded slot. Details of the obtained dual-frequency performances are presented and discussed.
