## Abstract Polymerization of naturally occurring isohexenylnaphthazarins (IHN), such as alkannin, shikonin (A/S) and their derivatives, which are potent pharmaceutical substances, significantly affects their use in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and as food colorants, because it leads to reduction of t
