โฆ Synopsis
The drop size distributions of sprays in heated air flow have been measured by laser light scattering technique with truncation method as proposed by Lee Dodge. The beam steering problem can be overcome within certain limits by truncation of those distorted output of photodetectors. The parameters for this study are air pressure 1 atm. and air temperature 283-533K. The drop size measurements have been shown to be reasonably reliable. By using truncation technique, the following results of water spray characteristics at the outlet of a vaporizer tube have been obtained: 1. SMD and drop size distribution parameter ฮ (Rosin-Rammler distribution) decreases with the increase of air velocity in the vaporizer tube and increases with the increase of air temperature. 2. If air temperature and velocity in the vaporizer tube are kept constant, SMD and ฮ increase with the increase of air liquid ratio in the vaporizer. 3. Under tested conditions, the pressure drop across the nozzle has nearly no effect on the SMD and ฮ at the outlet of the vaporizer tube.
