The double quantum exwmnl phoroelecrric erkcr DQEPE. was found in a merocyanins dye. A modified M11hLm apparams was used LO measure photoemission rrom a microcrystal of the dye suspended in a N2 almorphcre by an slec~ric field. The crystal iomwtion energy was 5.25 eV and the band gap was 2 5 eV. The mechanism or the DQEPE m mcrocydnins is pholoionizalion or a trapped electron. and is dislinctly dlrrerenl from Ihe DQEPE round prc\iousl> in anrhracene and Ieu-acene. 1.
