✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this paper, a novel UWB (ultra‐wide bandwidth) antenna having a frequency band notch is presented. The ring‐slot is used to change the current distribution and realize the frequency notch function. The measured return loss less than −10.0 dB is from 3.1 to 5.0 GHz and from 6.0 to 10.6 GHz, and the frequency notch band is from 5.15 to 5.825 GHz. The simulated gain changes between 2.0 and 6.5 dB within the pass band and varies between −1.5 and 1.0 dB within the band‐notched part. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. It can be noted that the range of elevation angles from Ϫ55°to 62°has a smaller 3-dB AR value at ϭ 0°. Correspondingly, in Figure 5(b), as

In this study, we propose a design to obtain band-notching characteristics in printed planar monopoles. An ultra-wide band was achieved by means of the beveled upper edge of the rectangular patch with dimension as small as 55 mm 2 . On the other hand, it is necessary to notch certain bands to avoid
