Abstract
In this article, the measurement results for the double‐layered compact coplanar patch antenna with coplanar waveguide feed line at 2.5 GHz has been presented. With this technique, a 3.6% bandwidth (return loss < −10 dB) of center frequency at about 2.5 GHz has successfully been achieved. The copolarization radiation is strongest at θ ≅ 0° and 20° from the broadside in the xz‐ and yz‐planes, respectively. The antenna has a 3 dB beam angle of about 90°. Peak antenna gain is about 4.4 dBi, with gain variations less than 1.0 dBi for frequencies within in the −10‐dB S~11~ bandwidth. From the measured return loss, it was demonstrated that the bandwidth of coplanar patch antenna printed on CaLa~4~Ti~5~O~17~ high‐permittivity substrate with coplanar waveguide feed line on FR4 substrate can be improved compared with conventional patch antenna. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
