โฆ Synopsis
This paper presents a linear stability analysis for the problem of double diffusion in a horizontal layer of sparcely packed porous medium. The critical parameters of the problem are determined and the boundaries defining the regions of direct and overstable modes are obtained. The flow in the porous matrix is modeled by using the Brinkman -exteD~__~4 Darcy model which accctmts for friction ~ to macroscopic shear. The results of this study for the onset of convection bridge the gap between double diffusion in a Darcy (de~se!y packed) porous medium and double diffusion in a classical fluid.
