## Abstract The thermal doping of the emeraldine base (EB) form of polyaniline using two different sulfonic acids, dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA) and __p__‐toluenesulfonic acid (__p__TSA) has been studied. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to record thermal events associated with the

✦ Synopsis
Conducting polyaniline (PAni) films were prepared by heat treatment of the cast film from the homogeneous solution of the emeraldine base and the ammonium or alkylamine salts of various acids in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP). Doping of the PAni was proceeded by the removal of the low boiling ammonia or alkylamine bases upon heating the cast film at 80 -120 jC. Conductivity of the resulting PAni films was in the range between 0.01 and 5 S/cm depending on the structure and ratio of the dopants. Easy preparation of conducting composites was realized.

Camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) and m-cresol are known to be one of the most effective pairs of dopant and solvent for polyaniline (PANI) doping, respectively. Although the concept of secondary dopant that modifies the conformation of PANI has been a major description for the role of m-cresol, the acidit
