BMW, GM to collaborate on liquid H 2 refueling General Motors and the BMW Group are collaborating on the development of refueling devices for liquid hydrogen vehicles, with the aim of accelerating the establishment of a liquid hydrogen infrastructure.
The collaborative work will focus on setting global standards, establishing specifications for suppliers and finding the best technical and cost-effective solutions. The partners are particularly concerned to standardize the refueling coupler.
In Europe, future liquid hydrogen coupling units will follow draft specifications developed by the European Integrated Hydrogen Project (EIHP), which are being used as the basis to draw up a European standard for hydrogenpowered vehicles. BMW and GM want this refueling system, with the coupler as a core component, to become the global standard. Other carmakers and suppliers are also invited to join the initiative.
