โฆ Synopsis
A training initiative funded by the Department of Health was set up by the National Association for the Protection from Abuse of Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (NAPSAC) in 1995 to review, support and initiate training in the ยฎeld of learning disability and sexual abuse. The project focused on those whose professional work was likely to bring them into contact with people with learning disabilities. Rachael Ellis, one of the authors of this paper, has been the Development Ocer for the project from its inception.
This paper summarizes what has been learnt both about the current state of training on child sexual abuse and children with learning disabilities and perceived gaps in training. Although the project was concerned with both adults and children, the paper focuses solely on the child protection aspects of the work.
