The spectroscopic and DNA-binding properties of a number of pyrrolocoumarin derivatives, including linear tricyclic, angular tricyclic, linear tetracyclic and angular tetracyclic compounds were investigated. The compounds we examined form non-covalent complexes with duplex DNA, probably of the inter
