## Abstract Following the intrasplenic injection of B16F10 melanoma cells into mice, at first single cells, and later multicellular tumor foci were observed at different times in the liver. Cell numbers and tumor volumes were determined over the next 12 days, by confocal microscopy of thick liver s

✦ Synopsis
Theoretical and empirical arguments are used to support the growth kinetics of disseminated tumors. Employing viable hypotheses, it is established that Gompertzian growth of disseminated cancer cells can be derived from a number of theoretical considerations. Empirical methods are used to validate and confirm the theoretical assertions with the use of available data.

Recent clinical trials of cancer gene therapy have shown encouraging results for controlling localized tumors. However, to control metastatic or disseminated tumor cells, further modification of vectors is required to enhance specificity and infectivity against targets. We investigated whether utili
## Abstract We assessed the accuracy of automated cell imaging systems when compared to manual evaluation of cytospin slides in determining the presence of cytokeratin‐positive, disseminated breast cancer cells in bone marrow aspirates. A total of 298 cytospin slides of bone marrow aspirates were f
