✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The position of the tritium label in DL‐[G‐3H] phenylalanine prepared by platinum catalysed exchange in tritiated water at elevated temperatures has been determined by chemical degradation and by tritium nuclear magnetic resonance speotroscopy. There is good agreement between the results of the two methods : analysis of the product of two separate preparations showing 73 Β± 3% of the activity in the aromatic nucleus and 27 Β± 3% in the side chain.

## Abstract The concentration of bound ^3^H from diethyl‐(mono‐2‐^3^H)‐nitrosamine was determined in five different rat tissues as a function of time after single and repeated oral doses of the labelled carcinogen. Catalytic reduction of 3j3-hydroxyandrost-4-ene-l7-one (I) with tritium gas gave a mixture of 3B-hydroxy-5a-androstane-17-one (11) and 3~-hydroxy-5cc-androstane-l7-one ( 1 1 1 ) . Oxidation of compound 1 1 followed by alkaline equilibration resulted in 37 % loss of label from position 4. 5a-Androsta
