โฆ Synopsis
The distribution of the first-passage time for normal stationary random processes provided by Vanmarcke has been extended to cases involving Gaussian non-stationary random processes. The first-passage probabilities so obtained for type-D crossings based on various assumptions were approximated by the trapezoidal rule so that explicit expressions were obtained. Application of the results was made on the determination of various decay or hazard rates and first-passage probabilities for the displacement responses of the quarter scale physical model of a class of mast antenna structures, idealized by the finite element method, subjected to non-stationary random excitation.
