โœฆ Synopsis

A simplified theoretical model of the electric potential distribution in a porous electrode, working with limiting current and with flowing solution, is described. The model is based on several approximations, eg uniform flow velocity in the porous electrode. Equations are derived for the potential distribution in the solution filling the porous electrode, and for Ihe difference of the potentials in the solution between the front and rear ends of the electrode. The latter equation is checked experimentally for the process of the electroreduction of K,Fe(CN),.

An agreement between the theoretical model and the experimental data is obtained for a limited range of flow velocities.

A model for the use of multiple electrodes in cculometric cells is presented. It is shown that, by interconnecting the electrodes with appropriate external resistances, all of the electrodes can, in theory, be maintained at identical potentials. Some of the practicalities to be considered in designi
