✦ Synopsis

The collective behavior of multiple adiabatic shear bands (ASBs) in the plate is investigated in commercial pure titanium through the explosive cladding technique. A new model is proposed to describe the trajectory of ASBs in the explosive cladding plate. The distribution of ASBs on the titanium side is obtained by the trajectory model combined with the initial spacing of ASBs. The effect of the dislocation density on the distribution is discussed. The shear band propagation speed is calculated by use of the trajectory model of ASBs, and then the effect of applied velocity on the propagation speed is discussed.
