โœฆ Synopsis


A publishing and distributing company has been formed to market European high-value technical software in the USA. On the day of its launch, American Channels also announced its first signing, which was with the CADCentre from Cambridge, UK.

Under the terms of the contract, American Channels acquires rights to the CADCentre's DIAD drafting and designing package, GNC (graphical numerical control system) and CENTREPLAN, a process planning package. All these products are aimed at the CAD and CAM markets and have already been installed in European sites.

Roy Finney, President of American Channels, said that the benefit of such an agreement to US customers is that the software has already been tried tested and 'debugged'. He also pointed to the historic centring of expertise in mechanical CAD in the UK.

American Channels aims to contract European software and Americanize it in terms of documentation, screens etc. It will then republish, advertise, sell and support it. It is initially seeking high value scientific and technical software running on Apollo Domain and VAX machines.
