✦ Synopsis
The dissolution of the anodic oxide film formed on antimony in NaF solutions was investigated as a function of the fluoride ion concentration, formation voltage, and temperature using impedance and potential measurements. The rate of dissolution of the entire oxide film was found to follow a first order mechanism. The dissolution process is a function of temperature and the anodic oxide film has a duplex nature. The activation energy of dissolution of the outer layer is less than that of the inner one.
