✦ Synopsis

The neutron-intensity fluctuations of the original Los Alamos Water Boiler (LOPO) were used to measure the dispersion in Y, the number of neutrons per fission. The result obtained was 5 = 7.8 f 0.6 for U-235 thermal fission.
