β¦ Synopsis
Dispersion of Epiphytic Chironomid Larvae and the Probability of Random Colonization keg word*: epiphytic chironomids, dispersion, random colonization
Abst, ract nispersion of chironomid larvae between and wit.hin st,a,nds of the aquat,ic macrophyte Ranuncul u s penicillatm var. calmreus was studied by sampling individual leaves of Ranumulus. Two of t.he six common species exhibited no variation in density between sites, while others had significant variations. A new probability density function was applied to the data and it was revealed that,ran-don1 colonization was not. uncommon among these epiphytic larvae. It was suggested that st,ochn-&tic factors tire of some importance in the system under study.

The mutation process is a classical evolutionary genetic process mainly based on the (random) substitutions of one base (A = Adenine, C = Cytosine, G = Guanine, T = Thymine) for another. Two analytical solutions derived here allow us to analyse in genes the occurrence probabilities of motifs (e.g. d
