A novel shielded periodic meander line is presented. Its dispersion characteristics are formulated in terms of a rigorous, hybrid-mode representation and Floquet theorem. Some numerical results are included and good agreements compared with other available data are observed. Finally, a quarter-wave rectangular cavity with a shielded meander line is designed.
