✦ Synopsis
We have generated the benzyl radical in a pulsed discharge jet, and measured vibrationally resolved dispersed fluorescence spectra from single vibronic levels (SVL). The vibrational analysis of four SVL dispersed fluorescence spectra, obtained by the excitation of the 0 °, 0 + 328 cm -1, 0 + 387 cm -1, and 6a~ bands in the excitation spectrum of the D 1 2A2-D o 1 2B 1 transition, is performed. Based on the vibrational analysis of the spectra, we discuss the complex vibronic structure of the excitation spectrum of the radical.
