✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A Fabry‐Perot filter is realized by inscribing two identical 1 mm uniform Bragg gratings separated by 7.7 mm space in the hydrogen‐loaded photosensitive optical fiber. It is then incorporated with a tunable chirped fiber Bragg grating into a fiber ring cavity. Fourteen single‐wavelength lasings from 1552.186 nm to 1553.453 nm with average 97.5 pm spacing, and 13 pairs of dual‐wavelength lasings within the above wavelength range are achieved stably. This kind of laser will be very useful in applications requiring close‐spacing and tunable single‐ or dual‐wavelength components and systems. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper reports on a Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser using the stress dependence of a wavelength of reflected light from fiber Bragg gratings. The laser cavity consists of a 0.5-m-long Er-doped fiber and two fiber gratings (FG) attached at both ends of the fiber. The pump laser is a 1.48 mm semic

In this investigation, we propose and demonstrate a stable and wavelength-tunable erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser scheme with external-injected Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD) technology, in single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) output behavior. Here, the output power and side-mode suppression ratio (S
