β¦ Synopsis
The discharge characteristics at constant current densities have been determined for the lead/lead-sulphate electrode in sulphuric acid at various current densities, temperatures and concentrations of the electrolyte using smooth lead surfaces. The discharge duration f is related to the current density I by the equation t = KI-I" where K is dependent on the temperature and the concentration of the electrolyte. The results indicate that the faradaic capacity of the electrode is controlled by the diffusion of sulphate ions from the bulk of the electrolyte to the surface of the electrode.
