Abstract

It is shown that for an effective spin S′ = 1 arising from the coupling of two spins S = 1/2 the axes of the g‐tensor and of the fine structure tensor may have different orientations. A phenomenological theory is given that explains the effect on the base of exchange interaction. The experimental results for single crystals of two cupric compounds are reported.
