**Aktivierung von Methan durch Metallperoxide**: Calciumperoxid dient als effektiver Radikalstarter bei der Flüssigphasensulfonierung von Methan zu Methansulfonsäure (MSA) durch SO~3~ [Gl. (1)]. Unter den günstigsten Reaktionsbedingungen wurde ein 91‐proz. Umsatz von SO~3~ zu MSA erzielt.
