A variety of oxides were examined as additives to a V2Os/TiO 2 catalyst in order to enhance the catalytic performance for the vapor phase oxidation of toluene to benzoic acid. It was found that the modification with SeO2, TeO 2 or Sb20 3 greatly promoted the title reaction leading to improved cataly
## Abstract The hydroxylation of benzene to phenol with hydrogen peroxide was investigated using different solvents and a series of catalysts, obtained by modification of titanium silicalite (TSβ1). The best results were obtained after postβsynthesis treatment of TSβ1 with NH~4~HF~2~ and H~2~O~2~.
