An ozonizer with quartz windows is described in which the ozone concentration may be observed by using a beam of radiation of wavelength 2537 A.
For an aluminium-glass ozonizer operated at 50 c/s, the ozone concentration was always greatest next to the glass wall, the effect becoming greater as the ozonizer gap was increased. For an ozonizer gap of 3.4 mm, the difference after 40 ms between the ozone concentration next to the glass wall and that next to the aluminium wall was 55 f 10%. In the following half-value period the difference between the rate of increase of ozone concentration next to the glass wall and that next to the altinium was 16 f 4%. For a doubleglass ozonizer the concentration was uniform in the discharge gap.
It was also shown that ozone production takes place discontinuously in an ozonizer, the periods of ozone production coinciding approximately with the periods of high frequency currents.

In einem Aluminium/Glas-Ozonisator, betrieben mit 50Hz, war die Ozonkonzentration in nnmittelbarer N&he der Glaswand immer am grossten; dieser Effekt verstiirkt sich, wenn der Spalt des Ozonisators vergriissert wird. Bei einer Spaltweite von 3,4 mm hetrng die DiiIerenz der Ozonkonzentrationen unmittelbar an der Glaswand einerseits und unmittelbar an der Ahnniniumwand anderseits naeh 40 ms 50 f 10%. In der darantTolgenden Halbperiode hetrng der Unterschied in der Zunahme der Ozonkonzentration an der Glaswand und an der Alumininmwand 16 f 4%. Rei einem Doppelglas-Ozonisator war die Konzentrationsverteilnng im Entladnngsspalt gleichformig.
Man zeigt weiter, dess die Ozonhildnng in einem Ozonisator diskontinnierlich vor sich geht, die Perioden der Ozonbidung stimmen ungefti mit den Perioden des Hochfrequenzstromes tiberein.
