✦ Synopsis

Internal conversion has been investigated in gaseous pentacene excited under cokion-free conditions to the first electronic state at 189Od cm-l ,by a pulsed laser. A new pressuredependent transient absorption on the long-wavelength side of the ground-state absxption is attributed to levels of the gocnd state formed by internal conversion.
