โœฆ Synopsis


We examine a proposal about neutron detection using MgB 2 superconductor. For the purpose, we perform computer simulations for the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation coupled with the temperature diffusion equation derived from the energy conservation law and simulate dynamics of ''hot-spot'' nucleated by neutron absorption in superconductor MgB 2 : The simulations reveal basic principles required for the neutron detection.

After the discovery of an alloy superconductor MgB 2 , a quite unique application using MgB 2 has been suggested by Ishida et al. in terms of neutron detection. It is based on an intuitive idea that an energy released by the nuclear reaction between a neutron and 10 B leads to an instantaneous destr
