✦ Synopsis
The measurement of moment mobility, although important for many applications, is often not performed due to difficulties inherent in current measurement techniques. Overcoming many of these problems, two two-exciter methods are described which allow for the measurement of moment mobility. Expressions accounting for potential bias errors are derived and employed in determining an optimum moment exciter configuration. It is shown that the maximum error is comprised of two distinct parts: one due to an erroneous input of rotation due to false excitations and the other due to errors in the measurement of the moment. A general method for determining the effects of loading on any structure is also presented. It makes possible, through the use of theoretical mobilities, the study of loading effects caused by the exciter configurations and transducers.
