✦ Synopsis

A sensltrve electrochenucal method for the direct determmatlon of cholesterol 1s described Cholesterol adsorbed on a hanging mercury drop electrode can be oxdlzed durmg a hnear potential scan The electrode reaction 1s reversible m 0 1 M KC1 solution with oxldatlon and reduction peak potentials at -0 05 and -0 075 V, respecttvely The adsorption of cholesterol IS used as an accumulation step, and then the surface species are measured by stnppmg voltammetry The adsorptive strlppmg response was evaluated with respect to stnppmg mode, electrolyte solution, accumulation time, concentration dependence, possible Interferences and other vanables The peak current was hnear wth cholesterol concentration m the range 0 l-8 JLM The detectlon hrmt was 006 FM after 3 mm accumulation The relative standard devlatlon at 6 PM was 5 5% Apphcatlon to the determmatlon of cholesterol m human serum was assessed

A direct method for the determination of thallium concentrations on the order of lo-" M was developed. Long deposition times (up to 2 h) performed in the flow system with circulation of the analyte ensured the necessary preconcentration. A large volume sample (100 ml) was used to prevent depletion o
