571 chloroform solution

The solvent was allowed to run up to a height of 14-15 cm from the base line. The plates were then air-dried, sprayed with a solution of acetic anhydride (5 ml) and cont. sulphuric acid (5 ml) in absolute ethanol (go ml) and heated in an air oven at 13o--140~ for 15 min. Pink to reddish spots were observed for all these compounds. All these operations were carried out in an air-conditioned room at a temperature of 22-24O.
