✦ Synopsis
A method is proposed to determine ultrathin section thickness by means of noncentral sections obtained from latex spheres. The resulting spherical segments provide the parameters necessary to calculate very simply the section thickness without further treatment. The method is illustrated by an example using the grid-sectioning technique and could be generalized to classical microtomy.
