A procedure is proposed for the measurement of endoglucanase activity on insoluble cellulose. It is based on the Nelson-Somogyi technique and its relative merits as opposed to a viscometric method are detailed. A relevant characteristic of this procedure concerns its ability to determine the degree of polymerisation of cellulose insoluble Bbres.
