A method to study chain branching reactions has been developed based on increasing the free-radical lifetime when approaching the self-ignition limit in the region of reaction mixture stability. The chain branching reaction of silane chlorination has been investigated by the method of pulsed photolysis and time-resolved LMR. The branching probability per chamunitis 6=(4.6+0.6)~10-~(+2u)(T=298+5K, Pct2=560Pa, P,,,.=O-28Pa).
