โฆ Synopsis
Some of the most prospective cathode materials reported in the literature for secondary Li cells, ie V, O,, , TiS2 , NbSe, and Li,MnO, have been directly compared. Na, + xV, 0, , recently developed in this laboratory, has also been included in this comparison. Cycling tests of thin cathodes at high rates and depths of discharge have shown that the highest capacity and energy outputs, on a gravimetric basis, are delivered by TiSs and Na, +xV,Os. Impedance tests have shown maxima in the charge transfer resistance us cycle number for these two cathodes, this being reflected in the capacity trends during cycling. The performances of Li,MnO, and NbSe, are limited by a relatively low capacity and by a low voltage, respectively.
