✦ Synopsis
The absorption properties and the refracti¨e index change of an electroabsorption modulator were determined directly in the wa¨e-guide configuration by e¨aluation of the modulation depth and the shift of Fabry᎐Perot modes. The shift direction indicates the sign of the chirp parameter. Chirp compensation is demonstrated with a two-section modulator.
