Abstract

By direct explosure of the sample to the ion plasma in a chemical ionization source, spectra of many relatively involatile compounds can be obtained with sample temperatures at least 150Β° below those usually required. A number of peptides that have not been derivatized are shown as examples. Determination of the complete amino acid sequence is possible with samples of 10^βˆ’7^ g.
