✦ Synopsis
Reaction of pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, NaOH, KSCN and Cu(NO 3 ) 2 Á3H 2 O led to the formation of Na 2 K 2 trans-Cu(C 6 H 2 N 2 O 4 ) 2 2 Á2H 2 O, in which the Cu II atom, on an inversion centre, is approximately in a square-planar environment. This is a new coordination geometry for copper in complexes of pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylate.
