In the 13C-NMR spectrum five signals at 23.4, 26.4, 32.2, 125.1 and 135.1 could be observed. These signals can be related to the five chemical different carbons of an all-cis-1,4-polyisoprene unitg (Fig. 1). The differentiation between cis-and trans-polymers by "C-NMR spectroscopy is very reliable, because the a-C-atoms of the cis-olefins are significantly more shielded in comparison with those of the trans-isomers. The assignment of the 13C-signals of polyisoprene derivatives was discussed in detail by Stothersg.
