โœฆ Synopsis

This paper discusses points related to the inclusion of MFRCs in French design rules and to numerical modelling (finite element method) of these fibrous composite materials. It is shown that as the use of these design rules for dimensioning of fibre reinforced concrete structures leads to an inoperative result, it is necessary to develop numerical modelling to justify, mechanically, the interest in this type of application. In this framework, a numerical modelling method is proposed.

Reinforced concrete is a composite structural material which has been the subject of extensive research since it was first used. When considering the rational properties, the research has mainly centred on the behaviour of the concrete, that of the reinforcing steel and the interaction between the s

## Abstract The prediction of concrete cracking due to corrosion in atmospheric/carbonated conditions is a major issue for the evaluation of the durability of structures and the choice of maintenance policies. Because of the complexity of the phenomenon, a fully predictive approach is still missing
