Abstract

Recently, chlorinated high density hydrocarbons have been proposed as diluent or as additive to more common solvents for the liquid‐liquid extraction of some base metals (1,2,3).

In this communication the extraction curves of some transition metals from chloride solutions with a currently used anionexchanger (triisoöctylamine) solved in perchloroethylene are presented. The results are compared with those obtained for more commonly used solvents in liquid‐liquid extraction: SHELLSOL K (an aliphatic diluent) and SOLVESSO 150 (an aromatic diluent).
