✦ Synopsis

reasonably possible (including metadata about the scanning process itself), and all these issues should be part of the discussion.

These minor quibbles aside, this monograph is a valuable source of strategic and practical information. The topic of digitization, a rapidly growing area of study and research, has not yet generated many good books, and this work is a strong addition to the small collection in this field. The monograph is clearly written for the most part and is peppered with interesting examples of different kinds of digitization projects undertaken by libraries, archives, and museums. To information managers working with digitization, this is an essential read. I would certainly recommend it to anyone working within libraries, archives, and museums as it provides many ideas for moving forward into a digitized world, while in no way idealizing the process or suggesting digitization as always the best answer. Overall, this book is most welcome and is an obvious acquisition for the digital library collection.
