A theoretical model is suggested for nonequilibrium resistive states produced by optical and microwave irradiation in thin inhomogeneous superconducting films. It is demonstrated that heating of quasiparticles and Andreev reflection are essential for the appearance of nonequilibrium resistive states

We have observed the transient electrical response of current-biased YBa2Cu307 films irradiated with 150 ps pulses from a Nd:YAG laser (A=1.06I!m). The magnitude of the response always agrees quantitatively with a simple heating model, as does the speed of the response ยซ2 ns) in optically thin films
