✦ Synopsis

An analysis is presented of the concentration protile occurring in a chemical reactor characterized bv radial flow of a fluid between narallel disks. The reaction is the cam&tic oxidation of ethylene on the metal disks and it proceeds at a constant rate because the reactor-is essentially a differential reactor. The flow rate is slow enough that diffusion in the direction of flow has a critical effect on the concentration profile. The equation for diffusion in laminar flow is solved by a perturbation method that under appropriate circumstances can be extended to other geometries and reactions and is useful in the analysisof reaction-rate data.

## Abstract The impact of surface and oxygen on the oxidative pyrolysis of ethane at temperatures above 590Β°C was studied using a wall‐less reactor. At very low conversions under homogeneous conditions, ethene formation begins at the same temperature regardless of whether oxygen is present or absen
