## Abstract Gorskyโ€effect measurements on vanadiumโ€, niobiumโ€, and tantalumโ€samples loaded with different concentrations (0.2 to 4.3 at%) of hydrogen or deuterium are reported. From the relaxation strength the trace of the dipoleโ€moment tensor of hydrogen and deuterium was determined and found to b

Literature data for diffusion, internal friction, inelastic neutron scattering and specific heat for hydrogen in V, Nb and Ta are correlated with simple models for tunnelling. Tunnelling motion can occur through interference of tunnel-split excited states, or through two-phonon transitions via virtu
