The non-perturbative parton distributions in hadrons are derived from simple physical arguments resulting in an analytical expression for the valence parton distributions. The sea partons arise mainly from pions in hadronic fluctuations. The model gives new insights and a good description of structu

β¦ Synopsis
We describe diffractive deeply inelastic scattering in terms of diffractive parton distributions and discuss what one can learn from the calculation of the diffractive parton distributions in hadronic systems with small transverse size.
Consider e + p -+ e + p + X with Q2 large in the case in which the proton is diffractively scattered, so that it is scattered with a loss of a fraction xp of its longitudinal momentum and an invariant momentum transfer t. The measurement can be described using the diffractive structure function dF2di~(x ' Q2; xp, t)/[dx~ dt], which is often called
