The rotation rates obtained by' tracing 124 polar crown filaments are presented in comparison with previous results. Higher filament rotation rate in polar regions was detected and discussed in terms of the various phenomena such as: the projection effect due to the height of measured tracers, the c

β¦ Synopsis
We have measured the rotation rate of short-lived solar filaments as a function of their latitude. The resulting rotation curve appears to be somewhat flatter than the corresponding curve for long-lived filaments.

Reidel Publishing Company, Dordrecht-Holland * This is the median time base over which we measured individual filament knots. When the finite size of the observing window (from -60 ~ to + 60 ~ from central meridian) is taken into account this implies that the true median lifetime is about four days.

An axisymmetric model for the Sun's differential rotation based upon a mechanism for angular momentum transport by compressible convection is developed. Convective heat transport is also considered. The model is simplified by the neglect of meridional circulation and radiative heat transport but is
The rotation of the solar corona has been studied using recurrence properties of the green coronal line (5303 A,) for the interval 1947-1970. Short-lived coronal activity is found to show the same differential rotation as short-lived photospheric magnetic field features. Long-lived recurrences show
